HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN MNEMONICS

A mnemonic is a memory device or you can say a Technic which is used to increase the retention capacity of your brain. It can be a song , a sentence or you can say meaningless sentences, a pictorial representation or simply letters. As you all know, we have two kinds of memory a long term and a short term our brain moves the important and relevant information from the short term memory to the long term memory, there are different factors from which this process can be affected. Mnemonics might be the reason for that. Just look at the example below

In the example above, a piece of information should be learned in a sequential manner like we have to learn the name of the planet and learning that with the same sequence is equally important. For a young kid these planets names are a very new piece of information, so by learning a simple sentence i.e 'My Very Educated Mother Just Served' from the first letter of each sentence you can learn The sequence of the planets in the correct order.

Now comes to the title of the article, how can you make your own mnemonics?
As I have already told you, you can make different kinds of mnemonics, my personal favourite one is sentence based as I mentioned in the above example. So that sentence is not necessarily in the same language in which we want to retain a piece of information, it can also be in your native language like I create my mnemonics in Hindi. For retaining science names and facts or sequential steps of scientific processes.

Simple steps to create a mnemonic:
1. Write a piece of information on a paper

2. If you want to learn the sequence of the information, also get the first words in a sequential manner.

3. Now try to make a meaningful sentence from the first alphabet of the piece of information you want to make mnemonic of

4. Just repeat the mnemonics multiple times in your mind and write on paper as well, so that you can remember it for a long time.

That's how you create a mnemonics there are different kinds of mnemonics rest I will tell you in the next article.
