Positive side of COVID-19

covid-19: Covid-19: How the deadly virus hints at a looming ...
Most of us are locked inside our houses because of lockdown imposed by our prime minister to stop the spreading of very contagious disease i.e COVID-19 or you can say pandemic caused by SARS COV-2 . This kind of experience is very new for most of us who never like locked for so many days, govt allowed some movement for basic necessities. But that is very limited and by acting oversmartly or roaming without any necessary reason, you can be beaten up by sticks or punished by the police officers working for our safety. I am going to point out some very interesting or positive side of this lockdown period. Let's start.

Effect on the Environment

Due to this lockdown, most of the chief pollution causing agents are stopped. The top pollutant agents in our country are below

Industries contribute to nearly 45%  of all the air pollution in our country, transport and construction activities combined are the second largest air polluting agents. Due to the lockdown most of the industries, transport facilities or vehicular moments, construction activities etc. are stopped for the safety of masses. Air quality index(AQI) of all the metro cities, as well as other cities, have seen drastic improvement after the 'Janta' curfew of 22march.
Figures above are the statistical data of AQI  Delhi between 21march and 31 March respectively, you can observe more than 50% increase in the quality of data, according to the official website. Similar can be seen in every part of the country. Also, noise pollution decreased multiple times because of the main sources of air pollution like honking by vehicle, religious ceremonies, industries.

Rehabilitation of substance abusers

This 21day lockdown making every home in the entire country self-sponsored rehabilitation centre. According to THE 21 DAY HABIT THEORY first given by the plastic surgeon Maxwell Maltz, It takes 21 days to change or build any new habit so this time period of lockdown is perfect. Although drugs are already illegal in the country, chances of its illegitimate supply being much less. These can be temporary changes but given high hopes that many alcoholics and other people involved in drug businesses anyhow get time for introspection, even if they prove successful in saving a single life it would count as a change.

Work on their hobbies

Another perk of this period is that people will get time for their hobbies. This 21st century has converted human beings into half machines they don't get time to work on their hobbies because it always has been a tug of war between hobbies and livelihood. But now they have enough time to engage in their favourite works. It could be making paintings, creating videos, dancing, singing and so on.  It is true that many of us are working from home but still, they succeed in saving lots of time like they are saving travelling time or time they spend in queues.

Gross National Happiness (GNH)

Most of you already have adequate knowledge about GDP, not just knowledge, we fix our vision to get the latest data about the same because the only understanding we have to measure the growth of the country is through GDP. But one country Bhutan had rejected this superficial approach back in the 1970s. According to GNH, income is not the only criteria for major prosperity, so they included the spiritual, physical, social and environmental health of its citizens and preference should be given to happiness over materialistic approach.
Many fear that this 21 day lockdown period will bring our GDP to its knees. But we should also look at the other side of the coin. When it came to GNH this period is definitely going to bring positive change, and according to international data, India is one of the unhappy countries because happiness is the last thing we are bothered about. This lockdown is giving us quality time with our families which is very difficult to manage in our regular lifestyles. In this era of virtual socialisation, we are getting some real-time with real people, families are spending more time together and understanding each other more than before, children for whom mobile and computers have become the only source of information and entertainment are now exploring new ways with their families, children are now getting more time with their working parents. So it is clear that this time period will make us happy.

Drastic fall in road accident amid lockdown

Road accident is a major source of death and serious injury in India, every day this number is increasing, according to official sources in 2018 Road accident claimed 1.5 lakhs lives across India. According to the WHO Global report on road safety, India accounts for 11% of total road accident around the world and every hour 17 people die due to road accident here.
If we keep this figure in mind 21-day lockdown going to safe more lives. After the lockdown, there is a drastic fall in road accidents in India. Accurate figure is not out yet, but officials have a claim due to less traffic on road number is decreased like never before.

So from the above information, we can conclude that shutdown is much needed time we deserve for ourselves to introspect what really matters, where we were going wrong, what we want to do with our lives and most importantly to value things which we are taking for granted from a long time.
